About State Library Victoria

Facilities and Capacity

There are five event spaces for all sizes of weddings that you will find at State Library Victoria wedding venue indoors:

● The Ian Potter Queen's Hall has ample natural light with a capacity for 200 seated gusts and 500 guests for a cocktail. It is the most ancient venue launched in 1856 as a reading room. It is fitted with a refurbished 19th-century interior décor and skylights for natural light. You will make a grand entry to this venue using the marble staircase.

● The Isabella Fraser Room can accommodate 156 seated guests and 220 guests for a cocktail event. It is a contemporary space that was recently launched. It features large windows that stream adequate natural light, white ceilings, and parquetry floors. Its unique feature is the separate entry through La Trobe Street.

● La Trobe, which is a reading room, can fit up to 520 guests for a cocktail setting. The room can fit 60 seated guests and 90 guests for a cocktail. It is suitable for large-scale events. The room was refurbished in 2013, and it currently features Queensland oak timber desks, antique chairs, a soaring octagonal dome, and a grand dais. The glass-panelled skylights allow natural light to the room.

● North Rotunda Room can host 60 guests for a seated event and 90 guests for cocktails. It is the fourth event space that has retained most of the ancient features at this venue. The room has parquetry floors with a modern palette twist.

● The Cowen Gallery can host 220 guests for a seated event and 350 guests for cocktails. It has the most dramatic lighting system. It is suitable for more formal weddings, and it has a display of more than 40 art-pieces for unique State Library Victoria wedding photos. It has incredibly high ceilings with flexible floor space and parquetry flooring.
