About National Gallery of Australia
The Gallery is located on Lake Burley Griffin's shores facing the National Carillion, giving you views of Canberra's monuments. Its neighbours are the Parliament House and High Court of Australia. The venue is built in the late 20th century Brutalist style with gardens planted about; it is suitable for indoor and outdoor weddings. It has art-filled locations for couples and guests to enjoy with their ceremony. This venue is ideal for a wedding ceremony, reception, conferences, dinner party and cocktails.
The architecturally magnificent venue houses over 166,000 notable artworks covering Australian and other forms of arts. The arts are all available for viewing. It helps make the day memorable, as you and your guest can learn while having fun.
The Gallery offers some stunning dedicated venues for wedding and reception. The venues can be divided into two main categories, the ceremony and the reception venue. The Sculpture Garden contains the Angel of the North, The Beach, The Knot, and The Undercroft. The reception venue offers Gandel Hall and Sculpture Garden Pavilion. It can host a minimum of 40 guests and a maximum of 350 guests.
• The Sculpture Garden is a breathtaking scenic garden with various settings to spice up your day. This Garden is heritage-listed. The Garden includes casuarina forests, private sitting nooks, shady walkways and grassy mounds set around it. The enormous expanse lets you select a space that reflects your individuality and peculiarity as a couple.
• The Angel of the North, a life-size maquette by Antony Gormley, welcomes you to a beautifully planned area on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. It offers views of the Lake surroundings and the National Carillion; this creates the faultless garden chapel. However, power is available at this site.
• The Beach is a charming setting set within a forest of casuarinas with a peaceful Reed pond and magnificent sculptures by Robert Stackhouse, Henry Moore and Robert Klippel. It is located near the Sculpture Garden Pavilion.
• The Knot is named after Clement Meadmore's Virginia, also lovingly known as 'The Knot.' It is located among Green hills and offers peerless views of the water. It faces towards the National Carillion, and power is available at the site.
• The Undercroft is designed to have your back when the weather decides to be whimsical by sending rain to ruin the day. It is enchanting in its own right.
• The Gandel Hall is an impressive flexible venue with big gold leaf doors and floors with beautiful hardwood of redwood ironbark. The venue is spacious, light-filled, designed from floor to ceiling. It opens unto a terrace space that gives you a view of the Australian Garden. It can contain a maximum of 360 seated guests and 900 guests for cocktails.
• Sculpture Garden Pavilion overlooks the Sculpture Garden's beautiful landscape on Lake Burley Griffin's shores, and during the warmer season, it is a popular outdoor venue. It is the best venue to consider if you want an intimate gathering in a garden setting. It can host a maximum of 80 guests. You can enhance your reception's mood with the Fujiko Nakaya's Fog Sculpture Foggy Wake in a Desert: An ecosphere with fog blowing through the vegetation and across the pond towards the pavilion.

The Garden has different sculptures and landscape settings designed to make the day beautiful for you and your guest. The Gandel Hall is designed with floor to ceiling windows, impressive gold-leaf doors and floors of beautiful hardwood or red ironbark. It features see permanent artworks such as the large vases from the Ducal Palace Parma. The Sculpture Garden Pavilion is Marquee built.
It provides various wedding packages to select from; it offers excellent meals in its menu, ranging from the canapes, the main meal, to beverages. Third-Party catering is not allowed.
